Bryan Massoud, MD

Dr. Massoud is a fellowship trained Orthopedic Spine Surgeon. He is Board Certified the field of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Massoud has been performing endoscopic minimally invasive spine surgery since January 2006 and has one of the largest experiences in the tri-state area.
Having been trained in open and minimally invasive spinal surgery at the Texas Back Institute, Dr.Massoud has a unique experience in both open and endoscopic techniques. After starting private practice in 1998, Dr.Massoud has performed various open procedures including laminectomies, micro-discectomies, fusions,fracture repair, tumor surgery etc. However in 2006, he realized the tremendous advantages of endoscopic laser assisted spine techniques. In his quest to advance his techniques, Dr. Massoud traveled to England, to further his training with Dr. Martin Knight, a pioneer in the field of endoscopic spine surgery.
As his experience and techniques have expanded, Dr.Massoud uses endoscopic techniques almost exclusively for the treatment of many spine disorders including cervical & lumbar disc herniations, thoracic disc herniations, stenosis, Failed Back Syndrome, spondilolysthesis,and infection among others.
The benefits of outpatient same-day endoscopic spine surgery are numerous. They include awake state surgery, smaller incisions, decreased infection, faster recovery and return to work, no hospital stay, and immediate post-op rehabilitation.
After receiving his undergraduate degree from Muhlenberg College, Dr.Massoud graduated from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in NJ. Next he served a one year general surgery internship at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Upon completion, Dr.Massoud undertook an Orthopedic Surgery Residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in NJ. Dr. Massoud then chose to advance his skills in Spine Surgery by accepting a fellowship at the Texas Back Institute, one of the world”s largest and most prestigious multidisciplinary spine clinics. During his fellowship, Dr.Massoud trained with seven different spine surgeons who were involved in the development of cutting edge technologies. He assisted in performing surgeries utilizing new devices under FDA investigation.
Throughout his career, Dr.Massoud has been involved with education and teaching whether it be instructing orthopedic residents or colleagues in new procedures such as Kyphoplasty or Endoscopic Techiques. He holds various hospital affliations throughout the community. He is a member of many distinguished organizations including the North American Spine Society, the New Jersesy Spine Society, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, and the New jersey Orthopedic Society.
